Tough stuff, my lovelies!

30th September 2009 in England & Kiyu's ramblings & UEA

So I’ve properly started my course, and let me just tell you; it’s tough. I’m not just saying it, it is tough. Not just because I don’t recognize the scientific terms in English and therefore tend to stare at the lecturer with a blank face (I actually do), and it’s not just because we are deducted marks for every silly thing (though I guess it’s fair, this is England), and it’s not just because I need to finish my course in only four years, which academic school years are way shorter than Norwegian ones. No, it’s because I have 6 modules (emner) this term while my friends and flat mates have 3. Now THAT is freaky. Having 6 modules also means my workload piles up, and I have to do several assignments in one night. Which again means I don’t really have much time for anything else, especially when my days are 9-17.

I’m slightly freaked out, one; because I obviously lack the vocabulary to understand and participate verbally
Two; because of the above, I (will) fall behind
Three; I won’t have the time to breathe

Oh, Facebook and Twitter are quite useful if you want to know all the random and silly things during my life here.

Ok, geuly. You can do this. I know how it feels like. US remember. You are going to freak majorly out. But you can do this, i beliee in you. Are they all that hard? how about trying to come to a compromise with the teacher and tell him about your situation, maybe he will let you hand your assignment in a day later or something. Ohh….how i love the word compromise. ANYWHO! i know you can do this! Just take it one day at a time, as soon as you find a rhythm that fits you and is tailored for you everything will be smoothe sailing. You will work this out, you ALWAYS do. And why in God’s name are you taking double the workload?! Is there anything you can drop out of that you DONT have to have, just to make your life easier?

If you need help with terms, let me know. I did IB all in English, and I took Chemistry, Math, and Physics at HL, so at least with that, I can help. Probably also some Biological terms I’ve been exposed to hanging out a lot with the Biology kids… ;P
Or you can use Wikipedia of course, hehehe…
And yeah, I can relate to the stress thing. I’m doing 50 points, including two 20 points which is about 3-4 times the work of a 10 point. And a normal term here is 30 points… @___@

Hope things will look brighter for you soon… You worked hard to go, and it’s your dream so of course I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that we all hope and pray that you’ll be successful and in the end have enough free time to also have FUN in England too, hehe. ^____^
Good luck, and do your best!!! =)
    加油!

    Lykke til!
