Kristen og hekta på manga?

Friday, January 23rd, 2009 by Kiyu

Og nå må jeg egentlig filosofere mer over Det Ondes Problem, so off I go!

Kieli: “God wasn’t ever very patient, was he?”

Thursday, November 20th, 2008 by Kiyu

Back in the beginning of August when I was still busy roaming London’s streets for various manga shops (Rolf, Ngoc and Bao can verify this), I randomly pulled out a manga called Kieli from the shelves. It was the decorative spine that caught my attention and just simply begged me to pick it up. I curiosly flipped through the pages and discovered to my pleasure one of the most clean and yet beautiful drawings I’ve encountered in manga so far. I found it to be very pleasing to the eye.

I quickly became very fond of the manga as I read through the only volume available (after buying it of course), and I’ve just been itching to get my hands on volume 2 afterwards. I even pestered Rolf to go look for it when he and Maisen went to one of their usual visits to London again last month, but with no luck. Volume 2 was supposed to be on the shelves a couple of days prior due to its release date, but of some mysterious reasons none of the bookstores had it in yet.

I, as the lucky bastard that I am, got a noice from my post office today, announcing the arrival of a parcel from my favorite internet book store; Capris. Kieli vol.2 was waiting for me, but with that also the ending of the manga. I am quite sad that it had to end all too soon, but I guess I still love volume 2. It makes Kieli somehow even more special because of its only two volumes.

And because I’m not an excellent writer of beautiful descriptions and recommendations, and because I found several ones which I think do Kieli justice, I’ll just link you to one of them and urge you to read the review: Comics Should Be Good

Kieli is a beautiful tale.

Just a thing I noticed; using the church as the nemesis has become quite popular in fiction lately. Just like in The DaVinci Code and The Golden Compass, some lot in Kieli are also hunted down by the church. Are we turning anti-christs? Will this spawn some new trend which then eventually might result in another bloody war, or if not, a severe political war? (Which again could very well end up in some bloodshed, one never knows with hardcore believers.)

Watching: Merlin 8 (something’s wrong with this videofile!)
