YES I WAS AT DESUCON :D

I found out a couple a days before the convention that I could come after all, but I didn’t bother tell people because I wanted it to be a surprise :D Can you tell what it is that I’m wearing?
Oh, and I was a member of the judges’ panel so that’s why I’m standing on a stage trying to get the technicians to understand that I needed the microphone to work. “Give me some sound, will you!”

There were SO MANY PEOPLE there this year. 3300 people. 3300 bodies bumping, running, poking and talking. 3300 grown up meat balls! Who would ever imagine! And so we overloaded the capacities and the schedule got turned up-side-down and event crew had to try to do the best out of it to have things run as smoothly as possible, although people got pissed and yelled and shot me hateful stares while I was running around getting everything set up for the rounds and finals. I bothered the technicians at least 60 times that day, asking for microphones, had them call out messages on the calling system, continuosly showered them with questions and demands that I needed for the cosplay contests to run its course without too many issues, running forth and back making sure both sides got the messages and understood the teamwork. Thank goodness my nii-san was there to deal with my constan pestering with a smile! I ran everywhere, and I realised just too late that I should have run over to the info desk and give them some messages as well just in case the event crew hadn’t gotten to them. Now that I think about it, I shouldn’t have done all the running myself as I became more or less the hostess of the cosplay competition as well. Should have sent someone to do all the running so that I could concentrate on other things!

But it was really nice when people stopped me once in a while to take pictures and ask me about the costume I was wearing. Especially this guy who instantly knew that I had sewn it and not bought it as many other people believed :3 And this awfully cute Roxas cosplayer who recognized me and asked me puzzledly why I was there when I already announced some weeks before that I wasn’t going after all. And this girl who asked who the character I was cosplaying was.
“Great costume! Who are you cosplaying?”
“Lilypond.”
“.. OH! Now I see!”
Haha! What did she see exactly? Lilypond is a drawing I did dammit! xD

Haha. I actually managed to say “2009″ several times during the finals. Why didn’t any of the judges step forth and slap me for mixing up the years! They should have just gone over to me, slapped me and demanded I get us back to 2008! xD

Hurr. Crew was fantastic. They all work as volunteers, you know. I know how much work there were, and just the fact that they haven’t yelled at anyone yet just proves how awesome they all are! The next time I attend something and find some faults, I’m going to think at how much shit the crew is going through before I open my mouth to utter some complaints. One just doesn’t know until one’s been there oneself :D
Special thanks to Thomas and Kim from the technical department who aided me while I was scurrying back and forth demanding things, Janne who let us borrow her laptop so we got access to the list, and marilla from the info department who always met me with a smile and did small, but very important, errands such as fetching pencils and papers when we needed them. We seriously need some errand boys and girls. We will have great use of them, trust me.

And so Desucon was very different for me this year. I still don’t know just yet how I feel about it. But I guess it was great, eh? :D

Oh, Alex Lipstick and nii-san: you both suck for mixing up Lutten’s entries with mine :P Always remember that the Twilight News zone is Lutten’s!
