Loading ...I want to cry my heart out! Rip out my guts! Bellow in someone’s arms how unfairly materialistic life can be! Today! In our days! I honestly believed grades, talent and motivation was all that was needed in life. Mother always told me that “money does not matter as long as you work hard!” I thought the poor kids wouldn’t have to give up their dreams because of financial issues! I thought our days meant such possibilities! But how foolishly naive I was! Talents’ not enough. Money does matter. Or it’s just that I don’t have ENOUGH talent. I am aware that I’m not in the elite. I am aware that I may be ‘good’ to some degree, but not good enough. It does hurt.
You kept asking me whether I had decided on a uni and whether I was going to England or not. Yesterday I’d beam at you and start telling you all about the wonders I’ve discovered the last couple of months, the excitement, the trips, the communication, the thoughts and discussions – all and everything. I’d tell you which university I had chosen and I’d tell you why I had chosen that one and not the others, despite the fact that a few of the others are more prestigious. I’d tell you all abut my personal thoughts and reflecting. I’d tell you all about it, in a spirited mood!
Today, I will tell you.. nothing. I need to get over the shock at how painful the tuition fees are with the increasing rates. And thinking about how the fees will only get more expensive each year… I can’t bear the thought right now. I’m just.. I think I could really need for some thoughtful comfort right now. For once, I really think I could.

I know it hurts & probably feels like… well it’s hard to explain, but I’m sure you understand right? But don’t give up. I hate to hear this, but it’s true so I’ll say it.. everything happens for a reason. You are very talented & wonderful therefore you will achieve great things no matter which school you attend. Just be sure to focus on your dream. If you do that nothing can stop you (not even finances)! :)

but seirously, APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!
USE your talents to GET scholarships. get financial aid. get everything POSSIBLE so that you CAN go to the college you want! and if it all comes down to it, GET A LOAN ! there are so many student loans out there that you can get your parents to co-sign. dont give up! there are so many opportunities. call the school you want and ask them if they have any scholarships available! use your resources, i know you can do it!!!

I’m propably the last person you should be getting advice from, but I felt like leaving a comment regarding this. I have to admit, this is my first time seeing you like this, and it’s quite a change of pace compared to what you’re usually like. I know saying things like “don’t let it get to you” and stuff like that prolly won’t help, but I’m gonna say it anyway. Don’t let it get to you. Yes, it’s a sad truth that money truly does make the world go around, and in some ways it’s even sickening. What it boils down to is how you’re gonna work your way around it.
So your plans education in the coming year might not be playing out exactly as you’d hoped. It’s not that big of a setback if you think about it. Maybe you should take a year off to work to earn up some cash, or something of the sort, though honestly, I really can’t see you deviating from your plans : You have your eyes on the prize, which is a good thing, but some goals are a bit farther off than others. Why not take up a loan? Students loan or whatever it’s called heh. I can understand you wanting to avoid that though.
You don’t have to be in the “elite” as you put it, or anything like that, and you do have talent, in fact, you’ve got talent in droves compared to a lot of other people. If it’s one thing I’ve learned though, it’s that you have to combine that talent with effort. In my opinion, effort surpasses talent in many ways. And you’re certainly not lacking in effort either, so I don’t see what you’re complaining about :P

I’m kind of surprised your mother will tell you that considering she’s asian? Although I try no to abide by the stereotypes all the time, there is a generality to it. My family being hardcore asian and like most asians i know usually say “good grades, talent, motivation is EVERYTHING” accentuate on that GOOD GRADES part. and most of them don’t shut up about it heh. basically get straight A’s and buy me a house kinda deal.
but its cool that your family seems to think the opposite. I find it kind of rare actually.
