Sometimes I don’t want to talk in Norwegian. Sometimes I keep a conversation in some other language than my native or second native tongue. Sometimes I keep conversing in English all day long while the other person replies in Norwegian. And most certainly more than ‘sometimes’, people take me for being a foreigner. Hell, it’s fun :D
A couple of days ago, when I once again kept our lively conversation during work in English (Phuc replying half in Norwegian, half in English), one of the customers, thinking we were foreigners, thanked us in that same language. Phuc got so awkard, she demanded I stop talking in English at once. But when did I ever stop to listen to people enough to do as they bid? Unless their point is valid and logical to the point where I see it fit to be considerate. (You see, I usually am not)
I’ve been reading more Shakespeare lately, a book called Tales From Shakespeare written hundred-and-one years ago by Charles and Mary Lamb where they conveyed many of Shakespeare’s plays into short stories. I happen to enjoy these well written prose summaries so much, it makes me want to read the actual plays. It’s so easy to read, I somehow unconsciously convinced Phuc to come over to Shakespeare’s fantastic world and read them.
I’m off in less than 48 hours, and I just found out I’ll be meeting up with Phoebe aswell. How exciting! We’ll actually spend the one day I’m staying over at her house in Northampton to make me a Yuna rod haha :D

My sympathies!
Reminds me of the times, far too many times, when I’ve written a massive essay or something in English, extremely satisfied with my work, only to come back to it an hour later and realize I wrote it in the wrong damned language! So yeah, I can work with English.
It’s just a bit weird to talk English when it’s not needed. Most likely because it’s not very common ;)
Ah I often find it quite frustrating having to write in Norwegian!
My history teacher once denied me my wish to write in English (not because he’s not any good at it, he’s more than capable), just for the sake of proving that I could indeed write well in Norwegian. He’s the kind of type who would have let me write in any language that would benefit me, as long as he could understand it as well as Norwegian (for he cares only for the content). But yet he did not let me. “Prove to me you can write Norwegian as well as English.” Silly old man.
It might be weird, but therefore all the more merrier. Trust me, it’s more exciting to converse in English than in plain Norwegian!
in truth i miss talking english. In my house my mother doesn’t like us speaking english because she doesn’t want us to forget norwegian grammar. But it’s fine to speak thai and norwegian, but not so much english. But english is just so much more colourful and fluent, escpecially when it comes to writing. So i totally agree with you.
Ps: i didn’t know that you listened to the jonas brothers XP I love “burning up” and “sos”, although i don’t really listen to that type of music so much, but the lyrics are just so fetching XD hahaha.
Your website is absolutely beautiful!
And btw: I get tired of speaking my native tongue too.
I find English to be more expressive of what I want to get across.
:)
It is, isn’t it! But you see, I don’t even live in a country where speaking English would be considered normal (unless you’re talking to a foreigner).
And thank you very much for the compliment :D How come you found your way in here!
I’m half American, so I can usually speak English (well, OK, American) without people thinking it’s weird. Unless I were to start conversing in English at a totally random place, I guess. I haven’t ever really noticed people’s reactions.
I wish I could speak some other language, like an Asian one instead! Much more exotic!
…so, yeah… XD
