On an everyday basis I can’t be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes on makeup. Thankfully my skin is pretty clear, which means if it came down to the bare minimum, all I would really have to do is to cover up those pesky dark under eye circles. But sometimes we like to pamper ourselves to a little more than just the bare necessities, am I right?
If I’m getting ready for a work day I want something light, quick and trustworthy, something I know I don’t have to touch up on or check on. And obviously it needs to be dewy and fresh-looking to make me look like I’ve actually slept the night through. Here are my current favourites for a natural everyday look!
I usually like to even out my skin tone with a light layer of BB cream/tinted moisturiser and this Estee Lauder DayWear BB Creme has been my go-to favourite lately. It’s thick like the korean BB creams are which my dry skin absolutely loves, and it does a good job at evening out the redness in my skin and give me that healthy fresh-faced glow.
YSL Touche Eclat and Clarins Instant concealer is a combo I love for hiding dark circles; 3-4 light stripes of YSL Touche Eclat in the under eye area, blend blend blend and gently pat Clarins Instant concealer only where you can still see darkness. The little tube pictured above is only a sample I got in a gift-with-purchase, but a tiny bit packs a punch and I won’t be needing to rush out to buy the full size anytime soon!
Benefit Sun Beam has been a long time favourite for highlighting on my upper cheekbones and under the brows for when I want some extra glow. The golden highlight is absolutely gorgeous whether it be summer or winter, and is beautiful even on my paler skin! If you’re getting one highlighter this summer, make it this one!
IsaDora Volume & Curl mascara is a tubing mascara which is a must for everyone who suffers from mascaras smudging (even the most waterproof ones!) no matter what you do or what formula you use. Tubing mascaras are famous for their non-smudge and water resistant properties, but most of them can’t hold my curl and always weigh my lashes down. This is the first one I found that can somewhat hold a curl! I usually use a more bold mascara (Loreal Extra-Volume Collagene Waterproof) in conjunction with Clarins Double Fix seal when I want big lashes and no-smudging-all-night-long, but for everyday purposes this is the one I reach for as it’s quick, can hold a curl and doesn’t smudge. Sadly it might be difficult for non-scandinavians to get hold of as it’s a Swedish brand.
Did you know that Crabtree & Evelyn also does lip butters? Me neither! They have several scents such as mint and lemon so I’m sure you’ll find one you like. As I can’t be bothered with checking on and reapplying lip colour on a workday, my lips get a generous slather of one of my gazillions of lip balms instead. My current favourite is Crabtree & Evelyn Citron Creme & Honey Lip Butter. Smells deliciously of lemony goodness and is super nourishing on the lips. I find I need to reapply this one a bit more frequently than some other balms I own, but it always leaves my lips feeling soft and plump so it makes up for it. It’s also excellent for nourishing your lips before lip stick!
