Mmmmmmm. Can you smell that? Close the door will you darling? You’re thinning out the smell. The wafting scent of green notes, some citrus here, some woody there. Or perhaps you favour a more daring boquet of notes?
There are few things in the world that calm me down and put me in a dreamlike mood like scented candles do. It’s the flickering warm glow of the dancing flame and the aromatherapy like quality the scents bring to the room. I’m almost in a spa, and for less money to boot.
I started collecting scented candles half a year ago, and must always have one available to burn. I don’t light one every day, but it’s nice to have the option should the need arise. The good ones are usually rather expensive and I tend to have one standby currently burning, and buy when I see them on offer. That way I have a collection to rotate through and don’t have to spend a fortune as soon as I run out of one. There are always some candles on offer in interior stores in Norway when they have to make space for new collections coming in. Best places for scented candles on offer are Kid Interiør, Lampehuset and Feel.
My favourites at the moment are Diptyque Mimosa, Rituals Hammam Secret and Vinterland (I think this one is going out of production though) – very fresh-smelling, just what I need whilst I wait for the spring to roll around! I have a couple more Ecualyptus and Lemongrass & Coriander based candles that I can’t wait to get burning! Can you guess I like my candles green-smelling? Nope, me neither. I also love woody scents but haven’t found one that doesn’t smell too heavy yet. I really want to try the new Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt candle!
