Renovation: would you like more English?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 by Kiyu

When I first created this little baby back in 2007, I intended it to be for Norwegian readers only — hence all the Norwegian static pages!

Sure, I could make it a less pain in the arse by making it 100 % English, but a gut feeling told me it would seem more familiar and more ‘attachable’ to the readers if I used the language my fellow Vikings and I are all so used to. International readers were a faint idea that never really made it through my mind barrier, and later, when I discovered that I did have a few non-Norwegian readers, I tried to make up for it by writing fewer Norwegian posts and focusing more on writing in English. See, I love you that much.

Since redesigning the layout I’ve been secretly working on redoing all the static pages; Folk og fe were finished before I launched the new redesign, and the latest one to have been tampered with is Kiyu’s Story. Regrettable enough, non-Norwegian readers won’t be able to read anything but my blog entries. So, my dear non-Norwegian readers; are you curious to what my static pages says? Would you like to know?

Here’s the deal; should I rewrite all the pages and make KIYU-SHII.NET 100% English (except for the occasional Norwegian posts), or should I keep it as it is; Norwegian static pages and frequent English blog posts?

Norwegian readers are more than welcome to voice their opinion as well! After all, you do make up most of my readers!

Personally, I think keeping KIYU-SHII.NET partly Norwegian gives it its charm. It means, of course, that international readers won’t be able understand a single word of my static pages. But then it has always been like that, and I sure haven’t gotten any complaints so far!

Redesign: “Candy Shop”

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 by Kiyu

KIYU-SHII.NET’s Lilypond design has been redesigned! I call it “Candy Shop” because all the reds and whites remind me of a classical christmas lollipop. Still workin’ on a few more tweaks, but should be cleared up in a few days. My absolute favorite part of this redesign is the upper bar. The best idea I’ve had so far! Albeit perhaps eye-boggling, it’s just so… KIYU :D

I’ve also collaborated with Bao (the collaboration part won’t be revealed for a while), so stay tuned for more surprises!

Greenishly innocence

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 by Kiyu

Look at the bright colors. I just love green.

Well, I just got the urge to make a new layout for the blog one evening. I’ve always wanted to make a white and bright one, but I guess I don’t have the right experience and knowledge just yet. At least this one ended up as bright as I wanted it :D
Yes, the content area is supposed to be almost invisible and blend in with the white background. And simplicy rocks btw. Simple and Clean.
But that doesn’t mean that I’ve gone sick of the previous layout though. Oh no, I haven’t. I still love the brown one very much, but I just need something bright and fresh for a little while because spring is approaching. I might just go back to the old one if I get sick of this one.

The beautiful flower picture I got in my layout is a picture taken of my friend Cales. I’m not sure where it’s taken, but it looks like it’s in Thailand somewhere. I really do adore this picture. It’s so bright and clear and exotic flowers have always been fascinating. Thanks Cales!

I’m still working on the layout and fixing some style issues here and there. The navigation looks yucky in IE though, but that’s your problem. Switch over to Opera or Firefox if you don’t want IE to rape my poor site.
But do post it in a comment if you find any bugs or something looks off, so that I know what to fix. Four eyes are better than two!

The whole site. Please browse through the site to see what’s new. (And all the bugs. Ugh.)
