Smoothies are one of my all time favourite drinks. If I spot the word ‘smoothie’ on a menu or advertisement board, they’ve got my money. I aways keep a couple bags of frozen berries in my freezer in case I want some yum yum.
If you want the recipe for my favourite blend of gooey goodness you can find it below. It’s super simple and you only need 4 ingredients!
Berry smoothies are my favourites as they’ve got the perfect balance between sweet and tangy. I prefer my smoothies a tad bit sweeter than my friends do, so I like to use apple juice as my base and lots of berries. Frozen fruit work best to get a thick smoothie, fresh fruit makes it too runny. I find runny smoothies don’t quite pack enough punch and end up too juice-like.
Equipment-wise you will want powerful blender (at least 500 Watt strong) as I’ve found the cheapest ones don’t have enough grease strength to cut through chunky frozen srawberries easily and you’ll have to juggle the blender every now and then. Trust me, your life will be easier with a more powerful blender.
PS: I prefer buying single frozen fruit bags over ‘ready-made-smoothie-mix’ fruit bags because you have more control of what flavour you want! The best bags are the Eldorado ones from Kiwi in my opinion. In the UK I often got my frozen fruit from Tesco. Happy smoothieing!
